Driving Directions

From New York City (approximately 261 miles):
  • Take 95 North through Connecticut towards Providence, Rhode Island
  • Once through Providence, Take Exit 20, Route 195 East/US-6 East (Cape Cod & the Islands)
  • Take Exit 22A onto Route 495 (which turns immediately into Route 25)
  • Follow highway across the Bourne Bridge, go halfway around the rotary circle, and take Route 28 south towards Falmouth, Woods Hole & the Islands
  • At the next rotary circle, go halfway around and continue on Route 28 South towards Woods Hole
  • After 14 miles Route 28 becomes a two-way road
  • Go straight through the set of lights (Jones Road) and bear right after gas station onto Woods Hole Road
  • Continue for 4 miles (through one stop light) to Woods Hole
  • As you enter the village of Woods Hole, bear right at the Bank of Woods Hole. Go over the drawbridge, and take a right onto MBL Street. The Swope Center is located directly in front of you. It's a two story cement building with very large windows.
  • The Marine Biological Laboratory campus is located in the village of Woods Hole. Campus buildings are located on Water and MBL Streets, just beyond the Water Street drawbridge. The Housing and Parking Pass office is located at the Swope Center.

From T.F. Green Airport / Providence (approximately 75 miles):
  • Depart T.F. Green Airport, following signs to Route 95 N
  • From Route 95 N, Take Exit 20, Route 195 East/US-6 East (Cape Cod & the Islands)
  • Take Exit 22A onto Route 495 (which turns immediately into Route 25)

From Logan Airport (approximately 75 miles):
  • Take the Ted Williams Tunnel ramp toward Boston. Merge onto I-90 West/Massachusetts Turnpike. Take Exit 25-24 to merge onto I-93 south. After approximately 9 miles, bear left at the highway split to Route 3 South (towards Cape Cod - 53 miles)
  • Take Route 3 South to Exit 1A for US-6 toward Falmouth/Buzzards Bay (3.5 miles)
  • At the Bourne Rotary follow the signs for the Bourne Bridge and go over the Bourne Bridge
  • Go halfway around the rotary to the Route 28 exit and continue on Route 28 South towards Falmouth/Woods Hole
  • At the next rotary circle, go halfway around and continue on Route 28 South towards Woods Hole
