This colonial animal is easily confused with a seaweed. It resembles a small bundle of branching twigs and is often found dried on the beach attached to larger seaweeds. The colonies are erect and the branches calcified. This bryozoan is found along the shore and in estuaries where it can tolerant low salinities.
