SENSORY BIOLOGY & BEHAVIORAL ECOLOGY

The Marine Resources Center (MRC) has a research Program in Sensory Biology and Behavioral Ecology that takes advantage not only of the unique features of the MRC facility and the local cape fauna, but acts as a catalyst to integrate the existing research activities in vision, balance, and chemical sensing that are performed independently in MBL laboratories. Examples span investigations of sensory systems, central nervous system function, and proximate and ultimate mechanisms of behavior (including behavioral ecology). A common thread is emphasis on an evolutionary perspective to solve problems that span neuroscience and behavior.
